Adults Trick or Treating???By: Gail Halvorson
November 01, 2010
We are struggling with this recession, and money has been tight this year, but for the kids sake I went out and spent a lot of money buying candy for Halloween. We typically get about 200 kids coming through our neighborhood each year for Halloween. This means we have to buy a lot of candy to support them all, and it is not cheap. This year I was shocked to see many adults in the 18-30 year old range Trick or Treating. The multiple teenagers in the 16-18 year old range was huge also. What is up with this?? Do these adults really need candy so bad that they would steal a childhood tradition to get it? Many of the neighbors have started turning out the lights and not passing out candy for Halloween, because they can not afford to buy the candy. This adult Trick or Treating certainly does not make me want to open my door to pass out my hard earned money to a bunch of adults. Grow up and leave the Trick or Treating to the children where it belongs.
