![]() Orting Going For It's Third Big OBy: Lyle Evansiano
April 12, 2010
The Orting Eagles are happy to announce they are again sponsoring the Big O Motorcycle Poker Run.
In it's third year, the event is held the third Saturday in July, the 17th this year. The first couple years more than 110 bikes participated in the event raising more than$1200+ for local Orting charities each year. Communities in Schools the first year and Orting Valley Senior Center in 2009. The day starts with registration at the Bell Tower between the parks 8am. Eagles volunteers are busy serving a great breakfast then too. The first bike out is 10am and the run ends and winners determined at 4pm. Great door prizes await the hi and low hands and dozens of door prizes too, need not be present to win. There are 2 routes to choose from, the namesake around Mt Rainier, and a shorter 60 mile or so local ride thru some of the best bikin' roads in Washington. Organizers for the ride have added the "Eagle Challenge" this year. The Eagle Club that has the most participants gets a beautiful trophy and bragging' rights for a year. The winner next year takes the trophy home with them and so on. The rider doesn't have to be an Eagle, just has to be riding "for" their buddies club. So, go out & buy a bike! Or at least tell your friends about the ride. I know that Auburn, Spanapark, and South Seattle clubs have a lot of riders, let's not get beat by them!
