![]() Orting News Begins Its Third Year In BusinessBy: Lyle Evansiano
April 12, 2010
Data Has No Agenda. According to Google, Orting News has enjoyed more than 93,326 visits in it short lifespan over the past two years. With more than 319,302 page views, and the average viewer reading approximately four articles per visit, Orting News has become the media centerpiece of a community that was suddenly 'without paper' when the Gazette suddenly closed its doors in April 2008.
Seattle Times columnist Jerry Large quoted founder Rich Carr in May of 2008 as stating that Orting News had "reinvented the small-town" newspaper. A lot has changed since Orting News' humble beginnings in a former slaughter room on a small Orting farm. Primarily technology and people's attitudes on how they get their news delivered. "For our third year in business we wanted to raise the bar once again." said Rich Carr. "Most of the community has responded with delight at the weekly email updates they can receive by simply signing up at www.ortingnews.com. Our Orting 'Sound Off' Poll is always very popular so we've incorporated the ability to Comment on any story as well."
