Orville Road Is Going Green...Come Tour It!By: Lyle Evansiano
April 30, 2010
You're invited to celebrate the recent preservation of a 100-acre farm in Pierce County!
Guests will experience the pioneering partnership between the Washington Wildlife & Recreation - Farmland Preservation Program, Pierce County Conservation Futures and PCC Farmland Trust that brought a new crop of farmers to the Puyallup Valley. Three new locally -owned, organic farms - Crying Rock Farms, Little Eorthe Farm and Tahoma Farms - are now farming the historic Ford Dairy Farm, directly south of Northwest Horse Park. Join us Friday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at the farm complex, located 1.5 miles south of Orting on Orville Road. Light refreshments will be served and we'll plant rhubarb, as Pierce County was formerly the "rhubarb capital of the world!" To RSVP, please send an email to Brynn Brady, bbrady@co.pierce.wa.us by May 5th. Directions to the event will be followed by an email.
