Ye grand ol Orting Bike shopBy: pat thack
July 15, 2010
I would like to thank the orting bike shop for really standing out as a bike shop. I am an avid Mountain and road bike rider as are my wife and child. Every town i travel to i make it a point to visit the local bike shop. Of all the shops I have come accross the one in Orting sure stands out. On one occasion i took my Mountain bike in to get the brakes worked on. They were hydraulic brake so a little extra TLC was needed. Any how i get the bike back $100 later and the brakes dont work at all. I tell him they worked better before he worked on it. He says you telling me an engineer at bowing can't bleed a simple hydraulic line. So i take it to bonney lake Bicycle and a young man worked on my bike for about 20 min and fixed the problem.. This left a bad taste in my mouth but i was understandable he hadn't worked on hydraulic brakes before.. The nail in the coffin for me was the other day. I was riding bikes with my family and asked if i could air my tire up at his shop. He said that there is an air hose outside. I asked if he had an adapter for it so that it could be used to air up my tire. He said i sell those for $3. I honestly thought he was joking. So i said your not going to let me air up my tire with one of these 20 bike pumps you got here he replied NO. So i would like to thank the orting bike shop for standing out above and beyond other bike shops i have been to.. You will be hard pressed to ride your bike to any bike shop in America and find someone who will not air up your tire. Hell any car tire place will air up your car tires for free. I will not shop at the orting bike shop anymore because of this. Every time i go in there i am met with an attitude. Maybe the bike shop should take some buisness notes from the owner of fox hollow coffee. I am always greeted with a smile and they are always gratefull for your buisness. I try to support all local buisness so HERES TO YOU BIKE SHOP NAZI!!

2) If you can't do any of the required preventative maintenance on your mountain bike, perhaps you should sell it and buy something you CAN do some simple maintenance on.
3) I have stopped by Trailside Cyclery on my regular lunch rides on many occasions. The owner is a very courteous & helpful man.
