Today Dec. 2nd and tomorrow Dec. 3rd from 9:00am – 4:00pm. The Senior Center in Orting is holding their Holiday Bake Sale and Bazaar! With handmade crafts and delicious goodies. Made from Orting’s own Senior Citizens!
The Senior Center would greatly appreciate you coming out and supporting them! More about the Orting Senior Center- It costs about $1,000 per month for the groceries as the center operates five days per week providing about 640 hot meals per week. Other services include a senior exercise class, limited food bank, medical equipment lending, organized activities, bus trips, educational classes, resource and referral, help with Medicare forms and assistance to family members needed respite care and in-home services. The seniors themselves provide most of the funding for their programs through user fees, annual dues, and private donations. Other areas of local funding include the City of Orting and the Orting School District, which charges only a modest facilities fee for providing the space in its old high school building. Pierce County contributes $369 per month and provides a Seniors Active and Independent for Life grant that pays the exercise instructor. The senior center helps many of our most vulnerable in town. They are always looking for volunteers and for donations of all kinds. To help, please call Barb Hansen at (360)893-5827. Location: 120 North Washington, Orting |
