(AUBURN, Wash.) May 2, 2011 – After an extended and contested bid process, Jennings Northwest LLC (JNW) has emerged as the winning contractor for the city of Tacoma’s $830,000 Puyallup River Valley Replacement Phase IIA project, scheduled to begin this August.
The project will run in the vicinity of Highway 162 near Orting, Wash., on the west side of the Puyallup River valley. Pipe replacement, made necessary by corrosion and environmental damage, will ensure continuing provision of high-quality potable water by the city of Tacoma. Work will conclude by December. Competing in a field with seven other bidders, Jennings won this, its first contract with the city of Tacoma, to replace 1,300 linear feet of 39” above-ground riveted pipe with nearly 1,400 linear feet of 36” diameter buried welded steel pipe. Project management will occur out of JNW’s Auburn, Wash., district office managed by 31-year veteran Randy Durr. District superintendent Mark Heintz and project engineer Jordan Perry will provide on-location oversight. “Jennings Northwest has assembled a crew of some of the most highly-experienced steel transmission main experts in the Pacific Northwest,” said Heintz. “We are very familiar with the city and its expectations, and we’re prepared to not just meet but exceed the project’s requirements.” Other 2011 JNW jobs include a $2 million bridge project in Ocean Shores with scheduled completion in November and a four-month $2 million waterline job for the city of Anacortes, commencing in July. About Jennings Jennings Companies specializes in transportation, urban infrastructure, civil and industrial construction, environmental site remediation, residential and commercial development projects, and civil engineering and surveying services.
