3-Man Sorting Practice & Workshop

The first Sorting in Orting has been schedule for March 4th.  Despite strong interest in the 3-man sorting event in the heart of Pierce County, the recent storms have forced a delay.

The new design to manage the trail course and run off water has created some excess water in the arena during the storm.  To ensure the footing for the event is as high of quality as riders would expect, time is needed to redress the arena.

Registration for the March 4th Workshop and Practice are now open.

Sorting in Orting will hold a workshop for riders and horses on 3-Man sorting March 4th at approximately 9:30am.  Arena will open at 8:45 for warm up prior to the workshop.  Focus of the workshop will benefit riders and horses, with experience or not, in team sorting events.  Ride with experienced sorting competitor and trainer in this 3 hour workshop.  Learn the rules and process of a 3-man sorting event.  Practice techniques to help you successfully move the cattle without losing control of your horse or the cattle.  Every participant will get to ride one go on the cows with the clinician.    Followed by additional practice runs on the cows with other participants while continuing to receiving instruction from the trainer.

Following the workshop a sorting practice will be held.  Workshop participants will have their arena fee waived for that day when they sign up for their sorting practice runs.

The cost of the clinic is $50 per participant and will be limited to the first 20 riders.   Riders will need to register online for the clinic.   The first 20 riders (individual names) signed up will receive a confirmation email (via the email address given at the time of sign up).

Sorting Practice will start at 1:30.  Entry fee is $10 per horse/ rider.  Entry fee is waived to those who board at NorthWest Horse Park or for Participants in that mornings workshop.

Cost is $6 per go.  Partners are picked for each run based on a ‘pick and draw’ system.  We will draw partners for every run you make.  OR.  For every run you sign up for and select your specific partners, your next run we will draw the partners you go with.
