In response to Monica Haman's article. I too have a problem with not only the bicyclists but runners as well. I live in Whitehawk and have to deal with pedestrians and cyclists who routinely disobey the the law by running the stop signs on the trail and have cause me to make emergency stops in the middle of a turn. The last time this happened, last week, a man and his young son (10 years old?) were running on the trail Northbound at Whitehawk Blvd. while I was southbound on HWY 162 in the turn lane and about to start my turn when the man pointed at me from the trail at the location of the stop sign, kept running while pointing at me causing me to make an emergency stop! This angered me so much I went looking for a police officer and found one. I was informed that the cyclists and pedestrians are to stop at the stop signs and if they do not and get hit by a vehicle the owner of the vehicle will not be charged with anything.
I am glad this is becoming an issue. Cyclists and pedestrians alike NEED to obey the laws with regard to the Foothills Trail. I personally am getting tired of arrogant people yelling obscenities at me while they are the ones that are disobeying the law.
