I, like many others attended Festival in the Park on Saturday. It was such a nice day to spend in the park, a bit hot, but enough shade to keep it bearable.
It was amazing to see so many vendors in our little town and the turn out was great early on. I did a lot of people watching and saw the kids on the horse drawn carriage rides feeling like royalty, many had their faces painted and it appeared there was never a lack of kids in line for the U-Fish.
Dan Bunker (of Orting Business Solutions) did a great job “MC’ing”, gathering people for the pie eating and corn eating contests. And the music was nice to just sit back and listen to in the shade while eating a chicken bake for dinner.
The kids all seemed to have fun, riding the train with the “crazy driver”, playing putt putt golf and riding ponies. Watching the 3 ion 3 basketball tournaments looked like fun and there were plenty of dogs enjoying the day out with the family as well.
Though I was not able to stay for the entire day, I heard many great things about the festival from people who went at various times during the day. Great job Traditional Moments and the Chamber of Commerce!
The only thing I was disappointed in? We were really looking forward to some delicous Lion’s Club Chicken BBQ.
