Spend the 4th of July at Lion\'s Park

It's time to enjoy Orting's signature community celebration...the 4th of July Fireworks display and community celebration at Lion's Field on Orville Road.

"I've waited all year for this." said Deanne Looney of Bonney Lake. "We come down early, the kids have all kinds of games to play, it's a beautiful park and the people are always so happy. I love Orting"

Orting News spoke with people throughout the week milling through town and enjoying the foothills trail and every person asked was heading to Lion's Field for the 4th.

"We come down from Kent to see the display." said Robert Nelson. "My son lives just outside of town and we have a BBQ at his place, then head down to the park for what I am quite sure the rest of the region hasn't quite caught on to. This is the real thing!"

The National Weather Service has temperatures predicted in the mid-70s, and only a very slight chance of a shower in the earlier part of the day.

"Perfect weather for the region's most popular community Fourth of July celebration." said Dave Harman, Orting Chamber of Commerce President.

"This year volunteers ranging from your neighbor to the Lions, Eagles and Kiwanis have really organized an event this community can showcase to thier family and friends with great pride. There will be kids games, the Eagles have a Beer Garden, food choices include BBQ Chicken Drummies, tri tip steak sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, snow cones, cotton candy...the works!"

This year the celebration has also added overnight camping so that, after the firworks conclude, you can simply camp at Lions Field.

Parking Per Carload is once again $8 per carload - not per person - and you can come and go throughout the day without having to pay again through 7pm.

The money does not go to the Eagles, Lions or Chamber from Orting's Fourth of July Celebration.

"All money goes back to support this 4th of July celebration event." said Harmon.
