No one can have too many friends, including Sumner Pierce County Library. Friends of the Sumner Library invite local residents to join them for a free meeting at Sumner Pierce County Library, 1116 Fryar Ave. on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m.
Friends of the Library members work as volunteers with local library staff to sponsor events, such as children's programs, and to raise funds for books, furnishings, equipment and activities that the library cannot ordinarily provide. Members enjoy the company of others who love to read, and support the discovery and exchange of information and ideas in their community.
Being a Friend offers a chance to help the library better serve its community. Friends of the Library groups support their community branch library in many ways, from raising funds through book sales and other activities, to advocating and raising awareness about library services, needs and goals in the community.
Book lovers will find great bargains, while also supporting the library, at a Friends of the Sumner Library used book sale at Sumner Pierce County Library, 1116 Fryar Ave. on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friends of the Sumner Library meet on the first Saturday of the month. Drop-ins are always welcome. For additional information, call the Sumner Library at 253-863-0441.
