Cardinals Ranked Fourth In State

The Orting High School football team is ranked #4 in the state in 1A play according to the Associated Press' first statewide rankings released yesterday.

In their third game of the season this past Friday night at Coplan Field, Orting pummeled highly ranked Meridian 47 - 24 (Read Orting Pummels Meridian).

The Cardinals season began with a thorough thrashing of Eatonville 39 - 7. Game Two saw non-league Naches Valley fall to the mighty Cardinals 43 - 22.

So far this season the Cardinals have racked up 129 points of total offense to their opponents 53. And, even 53 points is a bit skewed considering Orting's gracious last quarter substitutions to assure all who suit up get field time in certain situations.

The state high school rankings from the Associated Press for this week, September 22nd through the 28th:

1: Royal
2: Cashmere
3: Montesano
4: Orting
5: Kalama
6: Cascade Christian
7: Lakeside (9 Mile Falls)
8: Connell
9: Zillah
10: River View
