Local Resident goes to Junior Olympic Volleyball Tournament

Orting resident and student, Elysia Keith, has played volleyball for a select team for the past 2 years. She is the setter and captain for this years 12-U team. She continues to work hard with her studies at Orting Middle school, as well as volleyball. Just being selected to play for Narrows Volleyball club is a testament of each player’s hard work and dedication to the sport.

On Sunday April 6, 2008, Elysia Keith and her team successfully earned a National bid to play in The annual Junior Olympic Girls Volleyball Championships (JOGVC) in Dallas, Texas. It is a great achievement and a rare honor for any team to represent our region in this annual national event. To qualify, the team had to compete against top teams in the northwest, Puget Sound Region, and win the Prime Time double-elimination volleyball tournament.

To help our team fulfill their dream, we are asking our family, friends, community and local businesses for donations in order to help raise the funds necessary to pay for the team’s airfares, hotel, and ground transportation expenses to Dallas. The team will be leaving on June 26, 2008 and return July 1, 2008. The estimated cost to send our team to this prestigious national event is approximately $14,000.00
