Help Win a Daffodil Parade Float Award! Community Support Needed!By: Krista Butler

Daffodil Float Building 101
It’s has come to my attention that not everyone know what skills are needed to be part of a float building team. Many of you may have interest in participating in this community event but were not sure if you had what it takes to get the job done. Here is a quick list of things that are done on the float to get it built. Design Skills: Draw the float on paper to meet that year’s theme “Ready, Set, Grow†People Skills: Work to find people with skills to put the float idea in motion. Building Skills: Welding, painting, hammering, stapling, sawing ands so on. Gofer Skills: People to pick up and drop off supplies to the builders working on float. Computer Skills: Computer help to order supplies, make flyers, complete online application. Mechanic Skills: Someone that can check the float for any Mechanical issues. Budget Skills: Help create a budget and manage money coming in and out. Fund Raising Skills: Help to raise donations and support current Float Fundraising efforts. For example: Chocolate stroll and city of Orting Sewing Skills: Help make costumes and props for float Support Skills: Rider, Float and Mechanical support for the day of the parade.
