April 03, 2015
The world famous travelers known as the Harlem Crowns are coming to town to play at the Orting High School gymnasium on April 17 at 7 pm. The Harlem Crowns began their existence in the mid-50s when a former Harlem Globetrotter by the name of Chico Burell formulated a team composed of highly talented basketball players. Members of the Harlem Crowns are chosen for showmanship as well as their ability to play excellent basketball. The requirements for being considered a member of the Harlem Crowns are: 1. To have former college basketball experience. 2. To have a good character and the ability to get along with others. 3. To have basketball ability, the potential to be a showman and a knack for comic improvisations. The Harlem Crows are scheduled to play a regulation four quarter game against an Orting All-Star team consisting of Orting School District teachers and former players, local community members, and fire and police personnel. There is never a dull moment during the game because of the zany acts and laugh-a-minute routines that are very numerous. Full concessions will be available. All proceeds of the evening go to the OHS ASB, OMS ASB, Orting Primary School or Ptarmigan Library. Patrons will choose which school gets the proceeds of their ticket. Orting School District looks forward to welcoming the community into its gym for a great evening of fun and laughs. Tickets will be available at the door. Prices are $10 for individual, $8 for student with school ASB card, and $4 for children five and under.
